Arrive Prague Prague is often touted as one of the most beautiful cities in all of Europe. Its well-preserved showcase of history along with its location along the riverside enhanced by graceful bridges and extravagant, fairy-tale like architecture make Prague notable. Combine that with its memorable music including Mozart and one can begin to imagine why this city is so spectacular. Our group will be arriving into the beautiful city of Prague throughout the day, and the remainder of the day is yours to relax. This evening, after our group welcome and orientation, we’ll walk to a beautiful and decorative local synagogue where we’ll participate in a Shabbat Service. Following, we’ll enjoy a Shabbat Dinner at a nearby restaurant. Join us this evening for a walk around Prague’s magnificent medieval streets where the lights of the city sparkle and illuminate monuments including the Castle Hill, the Charles Bridge and Tyn Square.
Saturday, October 9
Prague This morning our guided tour will take us to Castle Hill which incorporates several amazing structures. We’ll visit the Royal Palace, Medieval St. Vitus Cathedral, 10th Century St. Georges Basilica, and Golden Lane, a narrow road filled with shops. Our half-day tour will finish at the Charles Bridge where we’ll have the opportunity to learn about the many decorative statues that this bridge is famous for. Tonight’s dinner will be at a restaurant with one of the best views on all of Prague from our vantage point on the Vltava River up to scenic Castle Hill.
Sunday, October 10
Prague This morning, our walking tour will take us to Josefov, the historic Jewish Center along with The Jewish Museum, a neighborhood surrounding five synagogues, which will be an experience to remember. Here, we’ll learn about the history of the Czech Jews and the Prague Jewish Community and step inside some of the synagogues that played a significant part of our history. Our tour will take us to the magnificent Old Town Square with its renowned Astrological Clock, and Wenceslas Square, where in November 1989, the Velvet Revolution took place and marked the end of Communism. Tonight we are treated to a cultural performance at one of Prague’s historic musical venues.
Monday, October 11
Prague Today we visit Terezin, located one hour outside of Prague. Words cannot describe what we’ll see. This is a meaningful visit that you will always remember. Not often seen, our tour also takes us to “The Hidden Synagogue” named for the Jewish Terezin prisoners who burrowed underground to worship there. We’ll have a light lunch along the way. Tonight is a free evening where you may choose to see another wonderful musical event in a stunning venue or enjoy one of the many neighborhoods that illuminates Prague after dark.
Tuesday, October 12
Prague There is so much to see and do in Prague and today is yours to enjoy this beautiful city at leisure. There are fabulous parks and gardens, river cruises and museums, the Central Market and of course, shopping. Enjoy the incredible architecture that has never been touched by war. This evening, we will have dinner at a local restaurant where we have invited some very special guests who will speak to us about living through times of war in Prague.
Wednesday, October 13
Prague and Budapest Late this morning, we board our First Class train from Prague to Budapest (7 hours) seeing the varied countryside along the way. Arriving this evening, you have the evening free at leisure to enjoy Budapest by dark. we’ll take you to one of our favorite neighborhoods, where there are many restaurants, bars and late night music.
Thursday, October 14
Budapest Today we’ll have an opportunity to see many Budapest attractions in our half-day city sightseeing tour. We will explore both the Buda and the Pest side, viewing Parliament, and the Danube River running through the heart of Budapest. we’ll see Heroes Square and Embassy Row. We finish our morning tour with a walk around Fisherman’s Bastion, the Castle, Matthias Church and more. Differences between life in Hungary and life in Czechoslovakia under the former Communist rule are of great interest. This afternoon you’ll have some free time where you can visit the Holocaust Museum, the mesmerizing Museum of Terror, the Fine Arts Museum, or the unusual Museum of Decorative Arts. A city market in a huge hall displays foods where locals shop. This evening we’ll attend a fabulous musical performance that the Hungarians are known for. This extraordinary experience is a cultural evening you will not soon forget.
Friday, October 15
Budapest This morning we’ll delve into the Jewish life in Budapest. we’ll visit the magnificent Great Synagogue of Budapest and the Dohany Synagogue (and the incredible sculpture behind it). Next we’ll visit at the Old Jewish Quarter with its maze of narrow streets once teeming with Jewish life in the 18th century. Recently renovated and considered to be “the upscale” area of town, it has also been named a UNESCO World Heritage Sight. On our tour, you’ll discover the significance of Raoul Wallenberg to the Hungarian Jews. This evening we’ll participate in Shabbat services at the famous Dohany Synagogue of Budapest. After services, we’ll have a Shabbat dinner at a local Hungarian restaurant with dishes prepared as if by our mothers and grandmothers.
Saturday, October 16
Budapest Today we have left open for you to enjoy the many sights and sounds of Budapest and its surroundings. Whether you want to do some shopping, take some photographs, walk around this magnificent city, we have left this day free for you to do as you please. For those who are interested, we are offering three optional excursions you may choose to partake: 1) A Day at the Spa, for which Hungary is known; 2) A Hungarian Cooking School, where you’ll shop for your ingredients and come back to the school to learn the art of cooking in the Hungarian tradition, followed by the lunch you have made; and 3) A visit the charming villages of Szentendre and Estergom. These little towns, 45 minutes outside of Budapest, both sit on the Danube River and are architecturally rich. Szentendre is an art colony that is photographically pleasing, and shopping for artistic pieces at unbelievable prices still exists here. you’ll have opportunities to purchase quality porcelain such as world famous Herend. Estergom is known for its historical and religious sights. This evening we will enjoy our Amazing Journeys Farewell Event and Dinner at our hotel, complete with Gypsy violin music. Later this evening, we’ll take you for a special Danube River boat ride, remembering Budapest before you depart for home tomorrow.

Budapest – Depart for Home Today you will transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

Cancellation Policy: From the time of initial deposit until May 4, 2010, there is a $75.00 per person penalty for cancellation. From May 5 – July 14, 2010, the cancellation penalty is the amount of the deposit. From July 15 – August 31, 2010 the cancellation penalty is 50% of the total package price. From September 1, 2010 until the day of travel, the cancellation penalty of 100% of the total package price. “No-shows” will receive no refund. There is no refund in the event of interruption or cancellation after the start of the journey.
Cancellation insurance: Optional trip insurance is highly recommended and available through Amazing Journeys, LLC. Information will be sent with your tour confirmation.
Pricing: Rates are based on current value of the Euro to the US Dollar. If the rate fluctuates greater than 3% prior to final payment, Amazing Journeys reserves the right to adjust the rates accordingly. Taxes are subject to increases as local governments require.
